February to April is the most reliable window — warm, dry, and comfortable for cycling and the beach. May to August is hot but fine. Avoid October and November, the peak of the rainy season, when the Thu Bon river regularly floods the Old Town. The monthly full-moon lantern festival is worth timing your visit around.
How many days do you need in Hoi An?
Two to three days covers the Old Town, a tailoring fitting, the beach, and a cooking class without rushing. Add a day if you want a day trip to the My Son ruins or simply to slow down — Hoi An rewards a slower pace than most Vietnam stops.
